Wave Pool Pool Party

The second annual Wave Pool fundraiser is coming up!  The Pool Party starts at 3pm on Saturday, August 13th and runs until 7pm, but the bidding begins online...

A silent art auction-slash-exhibition will be held in the gallery from August 1st through August 13th, with each work going to the highest bidder at 7pm the final night.  Items at auction include works by Tony Behr, Scottie Bellissemo, Nina Caporale, Amanda Checco, Greg Clem, Skip Cullen, Cal Cullen, Mark DeJong, Marc Governanti, Mark Harris, Pablo Helguera, Pam Kravetz, Andy Marko, Chase Melendez, Sean Oswald, Future Retreival, Emil Robinson, Brett Scheiszer, Christian Schmit, Michael Stillion, Amber Stucke, RIAS Studio, Brian Sweet, Aaron Walker and others.  Those who may be interested in an early viewing — or even early bidding — can visit www.bidingowl.com/WavePool starting August 1st.

True to its name, this party includes a pool!  And if it's anything like last year, that pool should be appropriate for toddlers and similar wee ones...  For adult swimmers, there's the DUNK TANK!  Though perhaps Working Girls have something even more enviable in store for us?  The invite does say: "pool installation by Working Girls".  ...So come prepared, whatever that means to you.

Naturally, there will be food provided by Eli's BBQ, drinks by Rhinegeist, and music from local artists.  Also, ample opportunity to lend a hand.  Contact Wave Pool if you're interested in volunteering!

Beads & Bourbon, at Wave Pool

I Work Hard For My Money - Beads & Bourbon event

Join us at Wave Pool for a little beading party!

I'll teach you to use the peyote stitch bead weaving technique to create your own cabochons using found objects and seed beads.  This event is offered in conjunction with this month's exhibition, "I Work Hard For My Money".  So the found objects we'll be working with are real U.S. currency... including some of our favorite coins presently found in circulation.

To participate in our beading party, be sure to purchase your tickets in advance!  Feel free to watch what's going on, and visit the current exhibition, without a reservation —  but we can only provide beading materials to ticket holders.  Each ticket also includes a beverage (cocktails available for ages 21 and over).

Check this listing on Eventbrite for more details:
https://www.eventbrite.com/e/beads-and-bourbon-tickets

This cabochon was made with a Sacagewaea Gold Dollar and seed beads (size 6/0 or 7/0, as well as size 8/0 or 9/0).  These particular seed beads are large enough that a superfine beading needle is not necessary — we'll be using ordinary embroidery and/or sewing needles!  So this project should be pretty easy for all ages.   Anyone we can trust with sharp needle, anyway...
