Independence Day

I hit the Jackpot already this weekend, by finding a bin full of Lego blocks at the local charity resale store / thrift store! Which is a great way to kick off another weekend event: The Lego Americana Roadshow.

At just $40, this volume of Legos (even used) is a really great deal! There's a mix of vintage, Star Wars, City, Ninjago, and Power Functions Motor parts, in here. Other toys are included as well, such as this Captain America Action figure, some Hot Wheels toy cars, army men of different sizes, and some infant-safe Mega Blocks...

The Cincinnati leg of the roadshow opens in Cincinnati today, and I'm sure the place will be swarmed... But I am really looking forward to seeing it! We've been promised interactive activities, demonstrations and the like, though they probably won't be expecting adults to participate. So if nothing else, I'm sure I'll take so many photos that I'll max out the memory card in my camera and my smartphone. Maybe I'll update this entry with some of those, later. <wink!>

Happy Independence Day!

You can tell many of these blocks are vintage, just from discoloration of the white plastic. And in case you feel inclined to check my work, there are 54 stars and 15 stripes in this Lego rendition of the flag. Which is too many of both, but not by much! And it looks pretty good, all the same.
